Suspect in Vehicle Arson Attacks Arrested
A 35-year-old Kyiv resident has been arrested for setting fire to and destroying seven cars in the Solomianskyi district between December 2025 and January 2026. The man acted on orders, communicating with his client exclusively through a messenger app. His arrest was carried out under Article 208 of Ukraine's Criminal Procedure Code, and he has been formally notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers the intentional destruction of property.
Criminal Methods Revealed
Investigators report that in the two most recent incidents, the suspect targeted civilian luxury cars. He removed their civilian license plates, replacing them with military ones before setting the vehicles ablaze. He then filmed the fires as proof for his employer. The man has a prior criminal record for property crimes. The charges he now faces carry a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
