Tragic incident in Kyiv
In Kyiv, the police detained a driver who committed a fatal hit-and-run on an elderly woman at a pedestrian crossing on December 29. The accident occurred around 1:00 PM at the intersection of Yakuba Kolasa and Hnata Yuri streets in the Svyatoshynskyi district. The 48-year-old driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee hit the pensioner, who unfortunately died at the scene of the incident.
After the incident, the driver was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigative authorities initiated criminal proceedings under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty for this article provides for imprisonment of up to eight years.
