State of electricity supply in Kyiv region
As of January 12, 2023, over two thousand families in 19 settlements in the Kyiv region remain without electricity. The reasons for the lack of electricity supply are difficult weather conditions and the consequences of the Russian attack. The most emergency outages were recorded in the Obukhiv and Fastiv districts.
Situation in the districts
In the Brovary and Boryspil districts, emergency power outage schedules are in effect. The situation in these areas remains complicated, as noted by Mykola Kalashnikov, due to the consequences of the Russian attack. To resolve the issue and restore electricity supply, 187 brigades of energy workers are involved, working on eliminating the damage.
The region has also deployed 448 invincibility points providing support and comfort to people affected by electricity outages. Winter holidays in schools will last until January 18, allowing students and their families to adapt to the difficult conditions. Moreover, on January 13, 2023, hourly blackout schedules will be applied in all regions of Ukraine.
The situation with electricity supply in the Kyiv region highlights the challenges faced by regions affected by war and natural phenomena. Involving a significant number of energy brigades and creating invincibility points are important steps to support the population in times of crisis. Further electricity outage schedules indicate the need to adapt to the new realities the country faces amid war and the winter season.
