Kyiv residents will not have a water tariff set at nearly 90 hryvnias per cubic meter. This amount was calculated by the Kyivvodokanal as economically justified, but the city authorities did not approve it. At the same time, families' expenses for the service will still increase. This information is reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
What will the water tariff be in Kyiv in 2026
The cost of centralized water supply and sewage for residents of the capital will be 63.79 hryvnias per cubic meter. This tariff will be applied when calculating payments for the population.
The amount was approved by the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities back in 2024. Therefore, it is not about introducing a cost of 90 hryvnias, but about applying a previously agreed tariff.
Almost 90 hryvnias per cubic meter is the economically justified calculated cost of the services of the Kyivvodokanal. It takes into account the company's expenses, but does not automatically become the tariff for residential consumers.
To change the price, it is insufficient for one calculation from the municipal enterprise. The tariff must go through the approval and confirmation procedure by authorized bodies. The city authorities of Kyiv did not support the proposed amount.
How water bills will change for Kyiv residents
Despite refusing the tariff of nearly 90 hryvnias, the bills for Kyiv residents will increase. According to the estimates of the Kyiv City State Administration, a family of three will pay approximately 200–300 hryvnias more for average cold water consumption.
The actual amount will depend on the amount of water used. If there is a residential meter, the payment will be calculated based on its readings and the tariff of 63.79 hryvnias per cubic meter.
City residents should distinguish between the economically justified cost calculated by the supplier and the tariff actually applied to the population. The bills will use the lower of the two published amounts.
