In Kremenchuk, the authorities will check the economic justification of fares in public transport after some carriers continued to operate at old prices. If monitoring confirms the profitability of transportation, the fare may be officially reduced. This is reported by Suspilne Poltava.

Fares in minibuses will be checked in Kremenchuk

The issue of fares was discussed during a meeting of the executive committee of the Kremenchuk City Council.

Currently, the fare for trolleybuses and municipal buses is 20 hryvnias. At the same time, in private minibuses, the fare has already been raised to 25 hryvnias.

Mayor Vitaliy Maleckiy reported that in May, the authorities will collect comments and suggestions from residents regarding the new prices for travel.

Fare may be officially reduced

According to the mayor, the fare increase to 25 hryvnias is still a temporary measure. It was adopted after appeals from carriers due to rising fuel and electricity prices.

Currently, a regulatory procedure is underway in the city to determine the final fare. If an additional inspection shows that transportation remains profitable even at the fare of 20 hryvnias, the price may be reviewed downwards.

Separately, Kremenchuk plans to introduce transport labeling. Passengers will be able to immediately see which bus operates at the lower fare and which one at the increased fare.

Other fare options have already been discussed in the city

Previously, the city authorities considered an option with a fare of 15 hryvnias in regular transport and 20 hryvnias in minibuses as a temporary compromise.

Also, Kremenchuk officials stated that funding for the transportation of privileged passengers will remain at the level of 20 million hryvnias, and the final decision on fares will be made after the inspections and consultations with residents are completed.

Recall that in Kyiv there is a discussion about a possible increase in fare in public transport to 30-40 hryvnias.
