Tragedy in Kryvyi Rih
In Kryvyi Rih, rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) have retrieved the body of a deceased worker from a depth of 210 meters at a surface mining operation. The victim suffered a severe head injury, according to reports. Colleagues attempted to provide first aid before the rescue team arrived. Following an on-site examination in the presence of law enforcement, the body was brought to the surface and handed over to the relevant authorities.
Circumstances and Aftermath
The causes and circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation. Earlier in Kryvyi Rih, mine rescue teams had brought to the surface workers from two mines who were trapped due to power outages caused by Russian shelling. In those mines, over 90 miners were stranded, and the rescue operation lasted more than 10 hours.
Oleksandr Vilkul stated: 'Thank God, all miners are now on the surface.'
It is also worth noting that on November 11, 2025, an accident occurred at the Inhulets mine of the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant state enterprise, where a hydraulic backfill mixture burst and flooded a mining level. This event has raised additional concerns about safety in the region's mines.
This tragedy in Kryvyi Rih highlights the daily dangers faced by workers in the mining industry. Previous incidents involving miners trapped by power cuts underscore the serious risks associated with accidents and emergencies at mines. The situation calls for enhanced safety measures and monitoring to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The dangers faced by workers in various industries are not isolated, as highlighted by another recent incident. A tragic collision involving a train and a truck near Rogoźno resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, drawing attention to the urgent need for improved safety measures across all sectors.
