Gosha the Cat Works at a Kropyvnytskyi Store
In Kropyvnytskyi, a cat named Gosha has been living and working at a local store for over a year. Every morning at 7:00 AM, when the shop opens, Gosha is already there, waiting for customers. His owner, Irena Arveladze, takes him home each evening. Gosha came into Irena's life a year and a half ago and has since become a constant companion at the store.
Why Gosha Matters to the Team
Store manager Olha Mahasenko says Gosha serves as a true stress reliever for everyone around him.
“When I check the surveillance footage in the morning, I see him arriving first and sitting by the store door. We often set up holiday photo zones, and Gosha loves hanging out there. He even takes the cashier’s seat while the cashier stands nearby,” she explains.
Employee Oksana Horina also highlights Gosha’s role:
“Now he shows up right when the store opens at seven in the morning. Gosha is like the best employee—always on the spot. He loves to sleep, but people keep interrupting him. As soon as he dozes off, everyone comes over because he’s so friendly and handsome, and everyone wants to pet him.”
Shopper Tetiana shares her thoughts: “Sometimes I see him sleeping on a table. I think it’s great—an animal is an animal, soft and cuddly.”
Gosha actively takes part in store life, and his presence adds a special touch to daily operations. “But Gosha is a hardworking cat: he found a job at the store and goes there every morning as if earning his keep. He loves to eat. Each department keeps treats for him, so I sometimes stop by and ask: is Gosha at work? He enjoys working, traveling, being around people, and adores being petted,” says his owner Irena Arveladze.
Gosha’s favorite spots in the store are near the cash register and in the customer photo zone. He has become not just part of the team but a key element of the store’s welcoming atmosphere.
Gosha the cat’s presence underscores the value of comfort and positive vibes in retail spaces. Research shows that animals can reduce stress for both customers and staff, making them a business-friendly addition. Cats, as naturally social creatures, draw attention and spark positive emotions, which can boost customer loyalty and enhance the overall store environment.
