In Lubny, Poltava region, as of August 26 the cost of travel in city buses has increased. Now one trip costs 16 UAH instead of the previous 12 UAH, meaning the fare has been raised by 33%. This was reported by Suspilne Poltava.
How much does travel in Lubny cost now
The decision to change the tariff was adopted by the executive committee of the Lubny City Council on August 26. From now on, passengers of city buses will pay 16 UAH for one trip. The same amount will be charged for baggage transport.
The previous tariff had been in effect for over three and a half years. The last time the fare was reviewed was on January 25, 2023, when it was set at 12 UAH.
The new review was initiated by the carriers. They requested the city authorities to approve the price of one trip at 18 UAH. After analyzing the provided calculations, the city council decided to set a lower price.
«Today, August 26, we made such a decision. It is a compromise because the carriers wanted to set it at 18 UAH, and we agreed on 16 UAH,» — said the mayor of the Lubny community, Oleksandr Hrytsayenko.
Why the tariff is set at 16 UAH
According to the mayor, the approved cost became a compromise between the carriers' proposal and the position of local authorities. Instead of the proposed increase of 6 UAH, the tariff increased by 4 UAH.
«As far as I know, this is the lowest tariff in cities within our region,» — noted Oleksandr Hrytsayenko.
The new rates officially took effect on August 26. Thus, for ten trips, a passenger will now pay 160 UAH instead of the former 120 UAH.
Recall that a court sentenced a resident of Lubny to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for collaborating with the Russian special services and preparing a terrorist act in Poltava region.
