У Львові стартував новий проект, спрямований на допомогу пацієнтам з втратою кінцівок, як військовим, так і цивільним.

Launch of the GARTA Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Lviv

The city of Lviv has introduced the GARTA Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center, dedicated to assisting both military personnel and civilians who have experienced limb loss. This facility offers advanced prosthetic devices, training on their use, physical rehabilitation, and social reintegration services. GARTA is the third specialized center within its network, following locations in Ternopil and Vinnytsia, and will complement the efforts of other regional organizations such as Superhumans and UNBROKEN.

Key Figures and Funding Details

Since the full-scale war began, approximately 4,500 prosthetic limbs have been fabricated and distributed across Lviv region, benefiting nearly 4,000 individuals. In the third quarter of 2026 alone, 377 people received prosthetic care. The GARTA team has been providing prosthetic services to military patients since 2014, focusing on complex cases including high-level and bilateral amputations. The center’s establishment, including major renovations and equipment procurement, was fully funded by Forward-Ortho LLC. Co-founder Andriy Riy and director Pavlo Khrystych lead the center’s operations.

"Since the onset of the full-scale war, almost 4,000 people in the Lviv region have undergone prosthetic treatment. During this period, about 4,500 prosthetic devices were produced and provided. In the third quarter of this year alone, 377 individuals received prosthetic care," said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

GARTA aims to become a vital part of the rehabilitation and adaptation system for those affected by limb loss, equipping patients with the tools and support necessary to reintegrate into active daily life.

The opening of the GARTA center marks a significant advancement in the support available to war-affected individuals, with the potential to greatly enhance their quality of life. Given the high demand for prosthetic services in Lviv region, this new facility not only expands existing resources but also provides more focused and comprehensive care. This development reflects growing recognition of the needs of conflict survivors, which is crucial for social stability and regional recovery efforts.

The recent launch of the GARTA Prosthetics Center in Lviv is part of a broader initiative to enhance rehabilitation services in the region. In addition to this center, plans are underway for a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility at the University Hospital, which aims to further support those recovering from limb loss and other injuries. These developments reflect a commitment to improving the quality of care and support for affected individuals in Lviv and beyond.
