Concerto in Groove Makes Its Debut
On July 12, the Lviv National Philharmonic will host the world premiere of a groundbreaking piece titled Concerto in Groove. This marks the first-ever performance of a composition written for violin, DJ, electronics, and a string orchestra. The project was spearheaded by Ukrainian-born violinist Petro Krysa, promising a unique fusion of classical and contemporary music.
Composer and Program Details
The concerto was composed by American musician Gene Pritsker, who also works as a DJ and improviser. The program will feature Carousel for String Orchestra by U.S. composer Jennifer Bellor. Joining Petro Krysa on stage will be:
- The Virtuosos of Lviv orchestra
- Conductor Taras Krysa, director of orchestras at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Taras and Petro Krysa are brothers. Their father, Oleh Krysa, is a laureate of numerous international competitions.
The evening will also include a performance by American poet Robert S. Ford, widely recognized in literary circles as the Wall Street Poet. Reflecting on the upcoming event, Petro Krysa shared:
“This concert is incredibly special to me. First, I’ll be sharing the stage with my brother Taras. Although Taras, Gene, and I all studied together at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, this will be our first time performing together in this lineup.
