Concerto in Groove Makes Its Debut

On July 12, the Lviv National Philharmonic will host the world premiere of a groundbreaking piece titled Concerto in Groove. This marks the first-ever performance of a composition written for violin, DJ, electronics, and a string orchestra. The project was spearheaded by Ukrainian-born violinist Petro Krysa, promising a unique fusion of classical and contemporary music.

Composer and Program Details

The concerto was composed by American musician Gene Pritsker, who also works as a DJ and improviser. The program will feature Carousel for String Orchestra by U.S. composer Jennifer Bellor. Joining Petro Krysa on stage will be:

  • The Virtuosos of Lviv orchestra
  • Conductor Taras Krysa, director of orchestras at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Taras and Petro Krysa are brothers. Their father, Oleh Krysa, is a laureate of numerous international competitions.

The evening will also include a performance by American poet Robert S. Ford, widely recognized in literary circles as the Wall Street Poet. Reflecting on the upcoming event, Petro Krysa shared:

“This concert is incredibly special to me. First, I’ll be sharing the stage with my brother Taras. Although Taras, Gene, and I all studied together at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, this will be our first time performing together in this lineup. It’s a deeply moving moment for me.” — Petro Krysa

Concerto in Groove will take place on July 12 at the Lviv National Philharmonic. Tickets can be purchased at city box offices or through online platforms, offering everyone the chance to witness this unique musical experience.
