Occupants set up a screen near the Mariupol theater for New Year's greeting from Putin

Окупанти розмістили екран поруч із театром у Маріуполі для новорічного звернення від Путіна.

In Mariupol, which is temporarily under occupation, Russian occupiers have installed an LED panel near the Drama Theater to greet the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, for the New Year. This was reported by Petro Andryushchenko, head of the Center for Studies of Occupation, through his Telegram channel.

He showed a video where it is visible how the utility service is placing a huge screen close to the theater.

Local Residents' Reaction

Local residents expressed their outrage in comments regarding these actions. Information began to appear in Russian propaganda Telegram channels that Russians are preparing Mariupol for Putin's visit.

City dwellers note that most of the city lies in ruins, and no one cares about its restoration. There are families who have been waiting for housing for four years, but still have not received it from the occupying authorities.

History of the Drama Theater

After the Mariupol Drama Theater was destroyed as a result of hostilities, Russian occupiers restored it. Before the city's occupation, Russian troops bombed the theater building, which housed civilians, including women and children.

After the occupation, a fence was installed around the theater to hide evidence of the crime and conceal the work of dismantling the rubble. Russian troops plan to open the theater for Russian performances and concerts in December.
