An assassination attempt was made on Russian Major General Vladimir Alekseev in Moscow. According to Russian media, he was injured near a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway and was hospitalized in serious condition. In 2022, he provided guarantees to Ukrainian military personnel during their exit from Azovstal. This was reported by the commander of the 1st Azov Corps, Denis Prokopenko.

The commander of the Azov Corps, Denis Prokopenko, announced Alexeev's injury. According to him, in May 2022, Alekseev was the senior representative of Russia at the negotiations in Mariupol, and his signature was on the document regarding the terms of surrender for Ukrainian defenders. At that time, the Ukrainian side handed over three Russian prisoners of war to him, who were provided with medical assistance and food.

However, the promised conditions for their captivity, according to Prokopenko, were not fulfilled.

«The word of an officer, a native of Vinnytsia region, a traitor to his homeland, turned out to be worthless», — he noted, emphasizing the torture, lack of medical care, and hunger among the captured Azov fighters.
