Starting September 15, mass inspections of organic waste containers have begun in Germany. More than a hundred companies engaged in waste collection now have to monitor the sorting of organic waste. This was reported by the publication 'Glavkom', citing Bild.
The new environmental regulation that came into force limits the content of foreign impurities in organic waste: it is now allowed to have only up to three percent and no more than one percent of plastic in it.
The reason for this was the new environmental regulation that came into force in spring: now, organic waste should contain no more than three percent of foreign impurities and a maximum of one percent of plastic.
The workers who collect the waste will conduct inspections of the containers. In some areas, garbage trucks are even equipped with sensors that detect improperly sorted waste.
In case of violation of the sorting rules, sanctions are expected - from simply not collecting the waste to paying over 84 euros for special removal in Baden-Württemberg. In some cities, administrative cases may even be initiated for repeated violations.
