"A wave of anti-Ukrainian hate on social media has once again led to the tearing down of the Ukrainian flag from the honorary consulate of Ukraine in Przemyśl. This year, this is at least the fifth instance of public disrespect for the Ukrainian flag in this very place," wrote Bodnar.
The diplomat called on the Polish police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland to take appropriate measures to find those responsible and hold them accountable. Bodnar emphasized that Polish legislation provides for up to a year of imprisonment for disrespecting the national flag.
The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, will soon visit Ukraine and meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. It was also known that Ukraine offered Poland several options for Nawrocki's visit to Kyiv. Zelensky had his first phone conversation with the elected President of Poland, Nawrocki, on July 31 to ensure continuous communication between the countries.
In his interview with the Lithuanian publication LRT, Karol Nawrocki stated that he considers the discussion of Ukraine's NATO and European Union membership premature.
