In St. Petersburg, suspects in the kidnapping of a businessman and the attempted kidnapping of a Zenit football player and member of the Russian national team have been detained. Four men were arrested with the involvement of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The same men also attempted to kidnap Zenit football player and member of the Russian national team Andrey Mostovoy, but they were unsuccessful.

The FIS Council voted to prohibit athletes in individual neutral status (AIN) from participating in the qualifying competitions for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan.

Russian speed skater Daniil Naidenishev, who was recognized as a neutral ISU athlete, turned out to be a friend of the Russian occupier Mikhail Lebedev. Lebedev participates in the war against Ukraine and regularly publishes photos and videos from military actions on his Instagram page, where Naidenishev is also found.

In St. Petersburg, suspects in the kidnapping of a businessman and a football player have been detained, and they are accused of extorting a ransom. Also, one of the Russian athletes recognized as a neutral participant found himself at the center of a scandal due to his connections with the actions of the occupiers in the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
