In Poland, there is again talk of a large-scale tax reform that could change the taxation rules for citizens' incomes. Analytical centers are urging the government to abandon the personal income tax (PIT) and contributions to social insurance, replacing them with a single fee. This is reported by inPoland.
The relevant appeal was sent to the heads of the ministries of family, labor and social policy, finance and economy, as well as funds and regional policy. The initiators of the idea insist on a comprehensive reform of the tax and contribution system, which should make it simpler and more transparent.
Single Tax in Poland: What is the Essence of the Reform
The main idea is to combine taxes and social contributions into one coherent mechanism. This will eliminate parallel regimes and simplify calculations for taxpayers.
According to money.pl, the author of the updated concept is former employee of the Ministry of Finance of Poland, Artur Krawczyk. He proposes to fundamentally change the current model, in which taxes and contributions are calculated separately.
The proposed scheme includes:
payment of fixed social contributions
application of a progressive income tax
increase in tax burden with rising income

Cancellation of PIT in Poland: What Consequences Are Expected
According to the authors of the reform, the overall tax burden for most taxpayers will remain close to the current level, as will revenues to the budget. At the same time, it is planned to abolish the contribution to health insurance, with the National Health Fund being financed directly from the state budget.
It is expected that the changes:
will reduce the difference in contributions between employees and entrepreneurs
will unify the taxation rules for different forms of employment
will reduce segmentation in the labor market
Analysts emphasize that such a reform meets the demands of KPO and could be a step towards a more equitable tax system. At the same time, no specific timelines for decision-making have been announced yet.
