In Poland, the cheapest supermarkets were named: where the basket costs 266 zlotys

In Poland, the average cost of a consumer basket increased by 0.68% in August to 319.45 zlotys. The difference between retail chains exceeded 72 zlotys, with Auchan being the cheapest again. In the previous survey, Auchan was also the cheapest. This is reported by InPoland referring to ASM Sales Force.

Where is the cheapest consumer basket in Poland in August 2026

Analysts compared prices in 13 retail chains, considering both physical stores and online sales. The basket included dairy products, meat, sausages, fish, fruits, vegetables, cosmetics, household chemicals, and fat products.

The average cost of such a set in August was 319.45 zlotys. It increased by 0.68% over the month. At the same time, consumer inflation in Poland, according to GUS, was 3.4% on an annual basis in August.

The least for the surveyed set of goods had to be paid at Auchan — 266.48 zlotys. Compared to July, the basket in this chain has increased in price by only 1.82 zlotys.

The second position was taken by Makro Cash & Carry, where the same set cost 30.33 zlotys more than at Auchan, i.e., 296.81 zlotys. At Selgros Cash & Carry, the difference was 39.55 zlotys, so the basket cost approximately 306.03 zlotys.

For Ukrainians living in Poland, food expenses remain one of the main budget items. According to preliminary estimates, a person may need 900–1300 zlotys per month for food.

Which stores in Poland have the most expensive purchases

The highest basket cost in August was recorded at Netto — 338.81 zlotys. This is 72.33 zlotys, or about 27%, more than at Auchan.

The research showed a noticeable difference between trading formats. The cheapest were Cash & Carry stores with an average basket of 301.42 zlotys.

Unexpectedly, the highest figure was obtained for discounters, which are traditionally positioned as places for economical shopping. The average cost of a set of goods there reached 331.14 zlotys. The difference from Cash & Carry is almost 30 zlotys on one basket.

A similar picture was observed earlier. In June, the average basket in Poland cost 325.64 zlotys, while Auchan offered an equivalent set for 280.94 zlotys. At that time, the most expensive among the surveyed stores was Aldi with a price of 350.69 zlotys.
