In Poland, during a nationwide police special operation and border control services, more than 140 foreigners who were illegally in the country were detained. Among them, 91 citizens of Ukraine. The operation lasted two days and covered all voivodeships. This is reported by the Polish police.
According to the information from the Minister of Internal Affairs of Poland, Marcin Kerwinski, law enforcement officials conducted targeted checks at the places of residence and work of migrants.
Detention of Ukrainians in Poland: results of the police special operation
The special operation took place on March 2-3. Law enforcement agencies carried out extensive checks in various regions of the country.
During the raids, approximately:
1800 inspections at the places of residence and work of foreigners;
operations in all voivodeships of Poland;
check of individuals who might be hiding from justice.
In total, the police detained 1944 people who were wanted by law enforcement agencies. Among them, 147 foreigners were in search due to arrest warrants.
By nationality, among the detained foreigners were:
91 citizens of Ukraine;
14 citizens of Georgia;
8 citizens of Belarus;
3 citizens of Moldova;
2 citizens of Russia;
29 citizens of other countries.
Deportation of illegal migrants in Poland: what violations were detected
After the detentions, the Polish border service initiated over 110 administrative procedures for the forced return of foreigners.
The main grounds for deportation were:
exceeding the allowed period of stay;
illegal employment;
threat to public safety;
previous criminal offenses in EU countries.
The Polish police noted that this is already the fourth nationwide operation against individuals who are hiding from law enforcement or the courts. Meanwhile, this is the first similar action in 2026.
During three similar operations in 2025, law enforcement detained a total of 4766 people, among whom were 515 foreigners.
It is worth recalling that in 2026, Ukrainians who are in Poland may face deportation due to violations of migration norms, criminal offenses, or non-compliance with legal stay conditions.
