In Poland, new rules for vehicle registration came into effect on June 10, which aim to reduce the number of bureaucratic procedures for drivers. Some documents and formalities have been canceled, and certain deadlines for car owners have been extended. This is reported by InPoland.

Car registration in Poland has become easier

One of the main changes was the cancellation of the mandatory demonstration of license plates during the re-registration of used vehicles.

Now, car owners registered in Poland only need to submit a written statement that the license plates remain legible, undamaged, and have valid legalization stickers.

The Ministry of Infrastructure explains that these innovations will shorten the paperwork processing time and make the procedure more convenient for drivers.

Which documents will no longer be required

Another important change concerns the passing of technical inspections.

From now on, officials have no right to demand a paper document about passing technical inspection if the relevant information has already been entered into the Central Register of Vehicles.

After the inspection is completed, the diagnostic station independently submits the data to the electronic system, and officials gain automatic access to it.

More time for heirs and new opportunities for drivers

The amendments have also increased the time for registering inherited vehicles. Previously, this was set at 30 days, but now owners have 60 days to complete the paperwork.

Additionally, the procedure for temporary vehicle registration has been simplified. Drivers can register not only at their place of residence but also at the office serving the area where the vehicle was purchased.

The Polish government notes that the new rules are intended to make the process of purchasing and registering a vehicle less bureaucratic and more convenient for citizens.

Recall that Polish workers are among the most overloaded in the European Union. In 2025, the average working week in the country was 38 hours, significantly exceeding the average across the EU.
