In Poland, the activities of a Ukrainian criminal group that was engaged in the kidnapping of migrants and extortion of ransom have been uncovered. This story began in the city of Lubin when two Africans from Ethiopia, having escaped from their captors, ran naked through the streets, attracting the attention of local residents.

The officers of the CBŚP police from Gorzów Wielkopolski uncovered an international criminal network that operated both in Poland and Latvia. 'After a coordinated operation, four people suspected of kidnappings, ransom extortion, and human trafficking were detained,' said Krzysztof Wrzesiński, a representative of the Central Investigation Bureau of Police.

All members of the gang are Ukrainians who have been living in Poland for several years.

According to the investigation, the Ukrainian smuggling group transported migrants to Western European countries for money. However, instead of transporting the victims to their destination, they decided to play even more, kidnapping those they were transporting and demanding ransom from their relatives.

Ukrainian criminals showed hostility to the basic principle of genuine hospitality - secret estrangement followed by forced extortion of monetary rewards on changing terms. Their criminal activity was uncovered thanks to the successful escape of migrants and the operational work of law enforcement, which allowed stopping this horrific criminal syndicate.
