In Poland, a pilot program for general defense training called 'wReadytowości' will start on November 22, aiming to teach citizens how to act in crisis situations. The initiative was presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. This is reported by In Poland.
By the end of 2025, the government plans to train approximately 400 thousand people - from workers and students to entrepreneurs and retirees. The program is voluntary, and its completion is not equated to military service.
How the training will take place
The pilot phase will last from November 22 to December 14 and will cover up to 25 thousand participants. Training will take place on weekends across Poland, in 132 military units - mostly in Territorial Defense units.
The courses are divided into four blocks:
-
basic safety - how to act during natural disasters and emergencies;
-
survival - skills in navigation and behavior in field conditions;
-
first aid - algorithms for providing medical support;
-
cyber hygiene - protection of personal data and safe behavior online.
Registration for participation is done through the mobile application mObywatel, where you can choose the location and type of course.
«Not everyone should be a soldier, but everyone should know how to act during a flood, accident, or attack. It is our shared duty - to care for the safety of our homeland,» said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
What is known about further implementation
As reported by Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk, the program will become a permanent element of Poland's civil defense system starting next year. Its development is taking place against the backdrop of increasing security challenges in the region and the need to strengthen civil readiness.
For Ukrainians temporarily residing in Poland, participation in the program is not mandatory and does not affect their status in the country.
