Starting next year, stricter rules for violating drivers will come into effect in Poland. The Ministry of Justice of Poland is preparing amendments aimed at enhancing road safety and combating dangerous driving behavior. InPoland reports.
As explained by Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadiusz Mircha, the new regulations are a response to the increasing number of aggressive maneuvers on the roads. This relates, in particular, to sudden braking, swerving between vehicles, and crossing a double solid line, which poses a direct threat to the lives of other road users.
Fines for drivers in Poland for violating prohibitions and dangerous driving
The responsibility for drivers who ignore judicial bans on operating vehicles will be significantly toughened. In the case of repeated violations, they will face a lifetime ban on driving, and such violations will be classified as a criminal offense with possible imprisonment.
It is also provided:
- confiscation of the vehicle not only for driving under the influence but also for systematic ignoring of court bans;
- a fine of 1500 zlotys for drifting, and if the actions create danger – at least 2500 zlotys;
- additional financial penalties of up to 1500 zlotys for obstructing traffic.
Fines for drivers in Poland for alcohol and unauthorized car gatherings
Separate penalties will be intensified for intoxicated drivers who operate someone else’s vehicles. Currently, they pay an amount equivalent to the vehicle's value, but the new rules provide for fines ranging from 5,000 to 500,000 zlotys.
In addition, registering large car gatherings will become mandatory in Poland. Events involving at least 10 vehicles will require approval from local authorities.
It should be noted that the European Union has adopted a new directive that significantly tightens quarantine measures for drivers who violate traffic rules.
