In Poltava, the consideration of new tariffs for public transport has been postponed, which could raise the fare to 22 UAH. The executive committee meeting scheduled for August 19 did not take place. The new date has been set for August 24, while the introduction of tariffs was initially planned to start the next day. This is reported by Suspilne Poltava.
When will new transport tariffs be considered in Poltava
The meeting of the executive committee of the Poltava city council is scheduled for 10:00 on August 24. One of the first issues to be discussed will be the temporary establishment of the fare for public passenger transport.
The report will be presented by the head of the department of transport services and communications of the housing and communal services management, Serhii Hladkykh. Previously, the issue was supposed to be discussed on August 19, but the meeting on that day was not held.
The increase in tariffs has not been canceled yet. At the same time, the executive committee still has to make a final decision on the new prices.
How much could a ride in Poltava cost in 2026
The draft decision proposes to increase the cost of a single ride on trolleybuses to 18 UAH. For buses and minivans, a fare of 22 UAH is suggested.
For holders of transport cards, the price will be lower:
- trolleybuses - 16 UAH;
- buses and minivans - 20 UAH.
Another proposed change is free transfers between different types of urban public transport. Passengers will be able to take advantage of this within 35 minutes.
When might the fare increase occur in Poltava
According to the preliminary project, the new tariffs were supposed to start on August 25, 2026, the day after the current meeting date of the executive committee.
The increased tariffs were planned to be temporarily set for three months - until November 25, 2026. Whether the date of August 25 will remain after the postponement of the issue's consideration is currently unknown.
Thus, until the executive committee makes the corresponding decision, the proposed 18 and 22 UAH remain draft tariffs. The issue is expected to be considered on August 24.
As a reminder, in Poltava, they have started arranging five passenger stops for public transport. Contractors are preparing sites on the route from the Sad-1 microdistrict to Almazna street. About 6,000,000 UAH will be allocated from the community budget for these works.
