In Poltava, a draft decision has been prepared for the increase of the fare in municipal transport. The tariffs will be considered at the executive committee meeting on August 19, so they have not yet come into effect. This is reported by Suspilne Poltava.
What will be the fare in Poltava from August 25, 2026
If the executive committee supports the project, the following tariffs will apply from August 25:
-
18 UAH per trip in a trolleybus;
-
22 UAH for travel in a bus or minibus;
-
16 UAH in a trolleybus when paying with a transport card;
-
20 UAH in a bus when paying with a transport card.
Users of the electronic ticket will receive a discount of 2 UAH. A free transfer between all types of municipal passenger transport is also planned within 35 minutes.
The new tariffs are intended to be implemented temporarily, from August 25 to November 25, 2026. The final decision will be made by the members of the executive committee on August 19.
Why do they plan to raise transport tariffs in Poltava in 2026
Private carriers appealed to the city authorities in May with a request to review the existing tariff. They explained the price increase by the rise in fuel costs, spare parts, and wages.
Currently, a trip on private transport costs 15 UAH. Carriers claimed that a price of 25 UAH would be economically justified, but the draft decision suggested setting the price at 22 UAH.
The municipal carrier also reported an increase in expenses. The main components of the cost of operating trolleybuses are employee salaries, electricity, repairs, and the purchase of spare parts.
It should be noted that in Poltava, the arrangement of five passenger stops of public transport has begun. Contractors are preparing sites along the route from the Sady-1 microdistrict to Almazna Street. Approximately 6,000,000 UAH will be allocated from the community budget for this work.
