On the night of June 29, Russia attacked the city of Poltava, resulting in damage to the local railway station. According to a representative of «Ukrzaliznytsia», the railway station building sustained damage due to a «massive combined attack by the enemy», including broken windows and doors, as well as partial roof destruction. The local railway station, wagons, and administrative buildings were also hit. Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of these events.
«The night of the massive combined attack by the enemy is yet another blow to peaceful cities. The railway infrastructure has been damaged. Passengers and workers were in shelters. Nobody was harmed. This fact is the main one», the statement reads.
According to «Ukrzaliznytsia», all trains in the Poltava region continue to operate on their regular schedule despite these events.
At midnight on June 29, Russian occupiers launched a massive missile and drone strike on various parts of Ukraine. This attack left a specific mark in the form of damage and losses. In addition to the attack on Poltava, incidents have also been recorded in various regions of the country.
«Russia carried out multi-faceted strikes on Ukraine from the south, east, and north during the night. It is known that more than 450 objects of various categories were shelled», the report states.
As a result of these events, pilot of the 1st class, Colonel Maksym Ustymenko, was killed while defending the country, protecting the F-16 aircraft from enemy strikes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this week Russia fired more than 114 missiles, over 1270 drones, and about 1100 guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian territory. He also expressed condolences and sorrow over the death of Maksym Ustymenko, who gave his life for the country.
The Russian attack on Poltava and other regions of Ukraine caused significant damage to public transport and residential buildings, as well as resulted in the loss of life of a fighter defending the country from enemy forces.
