Neutralizing a Kh-101 Missile Warhead in Poltava Oblast

Bomb disposal experts in the Poltava region have eliminated the warhead of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile that failed to detonate upon impact. The operation was carried out by specialists from the police explosive ordnance disposal unit, who first inspected the object and developed a tailored action plan. The warhead was stabilized to a relatively safe condition for transport, then moved to a prepared demolition site where it was destroyed through a controlled explosion.

The Main Directorate of the National Police in Poltava Oblast reported the incident, noting that the Kh-101 missile's warhead posed a lethal threat to nearby residents. This type of missile is a key component of Russia's long-range strike capabilities, often launched from strategic bombers.

“A warhead of an enemy Kh-101 missile that did not explode and posed a deadly danger to those nearby was discovered in the Poltava region,” police officials stated.

Call for Vigilance

Authorities also urged the public to exercise caution. If anyone spots suspicious objects resembling missile or drone debris, they must absolutely avoid approaching or touching them. Instead, they should immediately contact emergency services at 101 or police at 102.

This case highlights the critical need for safety protocols when encountering hazardous remnants of combat operations. Recently, reports also emerged about the neutralization of an enemy drone that struck a residential building in Odesa, while in the Kyiv region, State Emergency Service sappers located and disposed of leftover enemy ordnance in an open field.

Destroying missile warheads and other dangerous items is a vital task for protecting civilians in areas affected by hostilities. The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and such incidents underscore the necessity of constant monitoring and rapid response to threats posed by remnants of enemy equipment. Citizens are urged to stay cautious and report any suspicious objects, a practice that can help prevent tragedies.

In a related incident, authorities in the Chernihiv region recently reported the discovery of unexploded warheads from Russian X-101 missiles. These findings underscore the ongoing dangers posed by remnants of warfare in Ukraine.
