The Verkhovna Rada believes that prices for electricity for the population should not be changed next year, even considering inflation. According to MP Serhiy Nahorniak, the only factor that could affect price changes is mass attacks on the Ukrainian energy system by Russia.
This tariff is absolutely economically justified and sufficient to cover the difference between the market price of electricity and the price at which it is sold to the population.
Nahorniak emphasized that state companies Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo can subsidize the population next year, as their financial condition allows it.
Gas prices and other services
The price of natural gas may also remain stable. Gas is supplied to the population at a price of about 8 UAH per cubic meter through the state company Ukrgazvydobuvannya. The law prohibits changing the price of gas for the population during martial law and for 6 months after its termination.
However, there are problems regarding the supply of cold water. Water utilities are in a difficult financial state due to rising electricity prices, which make up a significant part of the costs of water supply. Nahorniak warned that the regulator may respond to this situation next year.
Parliamentarians expressed the opinion that electricity and gas prices for the population will remain at current levels despite inflation. State companies may subsidize the population next year. The situation with the supply of cold water may require effective measures from regulators in the future.
