Cross-Party Parliamentary Group Established

A new cross-party parliamentary group named 'In Search of God’s Kingdom and His Righteousness' has been formed within Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation. The announcement was made by First Vice-Speaker Oleksandr Kornienko, who stated the group’s aim is to promote spiritual values in society. Deputy Heorhiy Mazurashu was elected as its head.

Heorhiy Mazurashu’s Legislative Track Record

Mazurashu, now leading the newly formed group, has previously been active in legislative initiatives. In February 2026, he registered a bill proposing the establishment of a Bible Day in Ukraine without granting an official day off. Earlier, in October 2025, he suggested amending the law 'On the National Bank of Ukraine' to include the phrase 'We Believe in God' on banknotes. Throughout 2025, Mazurashu ranked among the top deputies for the number of legislative proposals submitted.

Kornienko further emphasized the group’s intentions, quoting:

“The Kingdom of God certainly won’t hurt us.”
This reflects the group’s commitment to addressing spirituality and ethics within Ukrainian society. The new cross-party initiative aims to unite lawmakers in pursuing spiritual goals and upholding Christian values.

The formation of 'In Search of God’s Kingdom and His Righteousness' marks a notable step in the evolution of spiritual values in Ukraine. It may signal a growing societal demand for ethical and moral guidance amid contemporary challenges. Observers will be watching how this initiative shapes legislative activity and public debate on the role of religion in politics and national life.
