The Life and Service of Yevhen Kostrenko
Senior Lieutenant Yevhen Kostrenko passed away in Rivne on March 8, 2026. Born on March 8, 1983, his life was marked by dedication and service. He attended School No. 9 in Rivne before earning a higher education degree in 'Mining' from the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.
Following his studies, Yevhen worked as a process engineer at the Rivnetorf enterprise and later in the energy conservation department of the Rivne Regional State Administration. His subsequent career was connected to the region's peat industry enterprises. At the start of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily reported to the territorial recruitment center and was mobilized six months later. He served in the border guard forces as the head of a communications unit.
A Final Farewell and Lasting Memory
A farewell ceremony for Yevhen was held on March 12, 2026, at the Holy Intercession Cathedral in Rivne. He was laid to rest in the Alley of Heroes at the New Cemetery in Rivne. He is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, and a brother who continues to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His wife remembers him with great warmth:
'Service was always his priority; he responsibly and diligently carried out all assigned tasks and cared for the lives and health of his personnel. For his comrades, he was a true friend, an advisor, and the life of the party. Yevhen was motivated by the defense of his home, country, and family. His main goal was to secure a peaceful sky for his daughter, whom he loved immensely.'
Yevhen Kostrenko's death is a profound loss for his family, friends, and the entire region. His dedication to duty and love for his family will remain in the memory of many.
His passing underscores the immense sacrifice made by service members defending their nation, a reality that continues for Ukraine. His life and actions stand as an example of devotion and courage that inspires others.
