New requirements for employers regarding wage payments will come into effect in Poland from June 2026. These pertain to transparency in wage payments and addressing the gender pay gap. Companies face significant fines for non-compliance. This is reported by inPoland.

The new rules implement an EU directive on equal pay for women and men. The draft law was prepared by the Polish Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy. It provides not only for expanded reporting but also for financial responsibility for violations.

Employers will be required to determine wage levels based on objective and impartial criteria, without discrimination based on gender. Employees will have access to information about:

  • their own salary and its components
  • the average wage level for the respective job categories
  • criteria for forming remuneration.

These rules will apply to all employees, including people with disabilities.

Wage payment transparency in Poland: reporting and fines for companies

Companies will regularly report on the wage gap between women and men. The frequency of reporting will depend on the number of employees. If the gap is at least 5% and lacks objective explanation, the employer will have six months to correct or jointly review wages with employee representatives.

Fines ranging from 3,000 to 50,000 zlotys are imposed for failing to submit reports, lack of job value assessment, or not providing information to employees. Compliance monitoring will be conducted by the National Labor Inspectorate.

Experts note that addressing the wage gap requires ongoing monitoring. At the same time, salary transparency is seen not as a threat to business but as a stability tool that increases employee trust and reduces turnover.

Previously, we reported that Kraków first overtook Warsaw in average salary, showing 11,160.39 zlotys in October 2025.
