The State Duma of Russia has adopted a law that strengthens responsibility for minors. Now teenagers from 14 years old can be held accountable for sabotage, training for terrorist activities, and participation in sabotage communities. All 398 deputies supported this law, which expands the number of crimes for which one can be prosecuted from 14 years old.
According to the new law, children may be sentenced to terms ranging from 5 to 20 years of imprisonment, and for some crimes - even life imprisonment. The only deputy who expressed doubts claims that teenagers may not understand the consequences of their actions, but other deputies believe that fear is the best preventive measure.
During the discussion, one deputy expressed a desire to introduce the death penalty, but this issue was not related to the discussion of the law on the responsibility of minors. The Secretary of the Security Council of Russia believes that drone attacks on the fuel and energy complex of Russia do not threaten the country's internal security.
The law on strengthening responsibility for minors in Russia was adopted unanimously and adds new criminal sanctions for teenagers from 14 years old.
