A search operation has begun in Romania's Maramureș County to rescue a 23-year-old Ukrainian who got lost in the mountainous area. The man contacted the mountain rescue service of Maramureș County for help.

Specialists from the mountain rescue service and border guards from the village of Vișeu de Sus, which is close to the Ukrainian-Romanian border, are involved in the search efforts. Currently, search activities are ongoing, but there is no information about the Ukrainian's whereabouts yet.
Similar situations in the past
This is not the only case where Ukrainians got lost in Romanian mountains. Previously, Romanian rescuers saved a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen who got lost in the Maramureș Mountains. Additionally, recently the border guards discovered boys born in 2008, 2009, and 2010 who were attempting to illegally enter the European Union.
