Strengthening School Windows in Poltava
Schools in Poltava have begun installing impact-resistant film on their windows to enhance safety. This protective measure is designed to keep glass intact during blast waves and prevent hazardous shards from scattering, thereby safeguarding both students and teachers. The project started in two educational institutions, with the total area of reinforced glazing expected to reach 1461 square meters upon completion.
This approach was first introduced in Poltava with UNICEF's support during the setup of education recovery centers. The initiative is funded by UNICEF with financial backing from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, delivered through the state-owned development bank KfW. Kateryna Yamshchykova, Secretary of the Poltava City Council, highlighted the critical role this protection plays in ensuring the safety of school communities.
