Today, October 13, in Slovakia, near the village of Jablonov nad Turňou in the Rožňava district, a large-scale collision between two high-speed passenger trains occurred, resulting in at least 69 people injured. One of the injured is a 20-year-old Ukrainian, reports 'Glavkom'.

As 'Suspilne' writes, the young man from Ukraine sustained injuries and is currently in the hospital. The Ukrainian embassy in Slovakia has already contacted the victim's mother and is providing necessary assistance.

The accident happened in the morning around 10:00 local time when two express trains, moving in opposite directions, collided at a section where the tracks merge into one. One of the trains derailed after the collision. After the incident, rescuers, firefighters, and medics arrived at the scene. Among the injured is a pregnant woman, as well as people with various degrees of injury severity, including some in critical condition.

Police and rescue service representatives indicate that at the time of the accident, there were a large number of passengers on board the trains. All units of the comprehensive rescue system were involved in the evacuation of people from the carriages.

According to Interior Minister Matúš Sutaj Eštok, the accident likely occurred due to human error: one of the train drivers did not yield to the other. 'Right now, I don't want to speculate about the causes, but according to preliminary information, this was not a systematic error, but human. It seems that one of the train drivers made a mistake and likely did not yield to the other train, but this is only a preliminary version,' he explained.

Currently, it is officially confirmed that there were no fatalities as a result of this incident.

The injured Ukrainian was hurt during the train collision in Slovakia. The cause of the event, according to preliminary information, was human error by one of the drivers. Further investigation of this accident in due course will help prevent similar situations in the future.
