Detention of a Ukrainian in the USA during a green card interview: what is known

Затримання українця в США під час інтерв'ю на отримання імміграційної візи: подробиці інциденту.

A Ukrainian woman, Viktoria Bulavina, was arrested in San Diego (USA) during a green card interview. Her husband, Viktor Korol, reported that this happened just during a meeting at the immigration office where they were submitting documents.

«Viktoria came to America with her daughter thanks to a program for Ukrainians supported by Joe Biden. They wanted to stay here together, but their attempt to obtain a green card led to her arrest», Korol explained.

Conflict between immigration services and migrants

The couple tried to legally remain in the country through marriage, but without success. Their lawyer stated that Viktoria complied with all requirements and even submitted documents on time. However, this did not stop the immigration services from arresting her.

The moment of arrest during the interview is quite common for this area; the lawyer considers such actions of the services to be unfounded. This is yet another case of conflict between immigration services and migrants seeking legal status in the USA.
