On Monday, June 15, a tragedy occurred in the Donetsk region. Two law enforcement officers lost their lives when their vehicle came under fire from Russian invaders. The incident took place in Sviatohirsk while they were on duty, trying to ensure law and order and safety, as reported by the press service of the Donetsk region police.

«The attack occurred today at about 4:45 AM. The police officers were on duty, ensuring law and order and public safety,» – it is stated in the report.

The deceased are senior district officer Roman Penkov and police driver Valentin Havrysh. Roman Penkov, a police captain, was well-known in his hometown of Raihorodok and was always ready to help people. He is survived by his wife and seven-year-old daughter. The deceased police driver Valentin Havrysh, a senior police sergeant, joined the National Police in 2019 and was known as a loving son, brother, and husband.

The situation in the region remains tense: over the past day, Russian military has shelled peaceful settlements in Donetsk region more than 49 times. This is a terrible tragedy that occurred after the death of police officer Maria Dziumaha as a result of the shelling of Kyiv on July 10.

This news reflects the horrific reality of the struggle against occupation in the Ukrainian region. Ukraine continues to lose its sons and daughters in the fight for freedom and independence.
