Switzerland Hosts Concluding Session of Talks

The first round of discussions between Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations aimed at ending the war concluded in Switzerland. Held on February 17-18, 2026, the meetings focused on security and humanitarian matters. While the political working group has finished this phase, the military group continues its parallel work. Both the political and military groups are scheduled to resume their efforts on the morning of February 18.

Statements from all participants are anticipated following the talks. The head of the Ukrainian delegation described the meeting as constructive, focused, and free of unrealistic expectations. These talks represent a rare high-level diplomatic engagement since the conflict's escalation. Prior to the meetings, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with representatives of former U.S. President Donald Trump, Stephen Wightoff and Jared Kushner. The Kremlin has officially acknowledged that the issue of territorial integrity will be on the negotiation table.
