On May 26 at 4:00 PM, it was announced that Blue Energy and GE Vernova will jointly develop a 2.5 GW hybrid power plant in Texas. This facility integrates GE-Hitachi's BWRX-300 small modular reactors with 7HA.02 gas turbines. The project strategy involves first running the gas turbines to generate revenue, followed by a gradual transition to nuclear power.

Technical Features and Impact on the Energy Landscape

The hybrid plant will operate on both natural gas and nuclear fuel. The gas turbine component includes two units, each with a capacity of 1,000 MW. This setup ensures efficient operation during the early stages of the project.
