Tragedy at Tsyhanka Beach
A 15-year-old girl drowned at Tsyhanka Beach in Ternopil on June 24, 2025. According to the National Police, the incident occurred around 3:00 PM while the victim, a resident of the Skalat community, was spending time with friends. She entered the water and vanished from her companions' sight.
Divers recovered the girl from the water and brought her to shore, where medical personnel performed resuscitation efforts. Unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful, and she could not be saved. Authorities are currently investigating the case under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the designation of an accident.
“Law enforcement is deciding whether to enter the details of this incident into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, marked as an accident,” the National Police stated.
Police also urged parents to supervise minors during their leisure time, never leave them unattended near bodies of water, and consistently remind them of safe behavior rules. This tragedy serves as another stark reminder of the risks associated with water recreation, especially for young people.
