Starting from March 23, 2026, the fare for public transport in Ternopil will change. The decision to raise the rates was made by the executive committee of the city council. The Ternopil City Council reports on this.
Public transport fares in Ternopil depending on the payment method
The new rates are formed depending on how the passenger pays for the trip. The more modern the payment method, the cheaper the fare.
Basic prices:
-
15 UAH — when paying with the electronic ticket «Social Card of Ternopilian»
-
17 UAH — when using a non-personalized electronic ticket
-
20 UAH — when paying with a bank card, via NFC, or a single ticket
The city maintains a unified fare for both municipal and private transport. A single ticket service is also available, allowing for free transfers between routes within 30 minutes.
Discounts for public transport in Ternopil remain unchanged
Despite the increase in costs, conditions remain unchanged for certain passenger categories.
In particular:
-
students will continue to ride for free on trolleybuses and municipal buses
-
in private transport, they will receive a 50% discount
-
pensioners, people with disabilities, and combat veterans retain the right to free travel
The authorities also emphasize the benefits of the «Social Card of Ternopilian». It allows for reduced payments and is available not only to city residents but also to those who work or study in the community.
You can apply for the electronic ticket online through the application «e-Ternopil» by submitting the appropriate form.
Previously, Ternopil implemented an electronic fare payment system that standardized rates and launched a transfer mechanism without additional charges. The new fare increase is explained by economic factors and the need to support the transport infrastructure.
It is worth noting that in Ivano-Frankivsk, starting from March 16, public transport fares have increased.
