The U.S. administration confirmed plans to implement strict economic measures against Russia if it does not stop the war or reach an agreement for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine within the next 50 days. This was stated by White House press secretary Caroline Levitt.
For instance, if Russia refuses to engage in peace talks, trade tariffs and secondary sanctions will be imposed against it, which countries that continue to purchase Russian oil will join. In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the American leader for supporting such measures and for imposing 100% tariffs on any goods purchased from countries that import Russian energy resources.
'Fifty days is just terrible for us, every day is frightening,' emphasized Zelensky.
The Ukrainian leader expressed concern that the Russian president shows no willingness for compromise and does not seek to conclude military actions. He believes that significant pressure and influential mechanisms are needed to change Russia's position.
