Priority objects for the construction and restoration of water supply networks
The Cabinet of Ministers has determined the list of objects that are a priority for the construction and restoration of water supply networks. Among them are new water pipelines in Vinnitsa, Odessa, and Poltava regions, as well as the completion of work on ongoing projects in Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions. This was reported by 'Gorod' citing the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
The construction of these facilities will take place under a simplified procedure as part of an experimental project jointly developed with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development. This project will allow reducing bureaucratic procedures and obtaining financing faster to start work as soon as possible and restore the water supply system as effectively as possible.
According to the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba, the project will allow restoring important infrastructure as quickly as possible and ensuring people access to quality drinking water.
Restoration of water supply systems in Ukraine
It should be noted that in Mykolaiv, since 2022, local residents will receive fresh water from their taps. In 2024, UAH 8.7 billion was allocated from the state budget for the construction of a new water intake system from the Southern Bug River. Thanks to the Recovery Agency, the cost of the project decreased from UAH 8.7 billion to UAH 6.5 billion, and the saved funds will be directed to the construction of water pipelines in other regions.
It is known that the war in Ukraine negatively affects the sanitary and epidemiological situation due to the destruction of infrastructure, obstacles in water supply, and environmental pollution, which negatively affects the quality of drinking water.
Further efforts in the direction of restoring water supply systems and improving the quality of drinking water at the regional level are essential for improving the living standards of the population and providing its basic necessity - clean water.
