Six buses from Switzerland have been delivered to Trostianets, which will soon operate on city routes. The transport was provided as aid for the restoration of the city infrastructure damaged during the Russian occupation. This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland.

The buses completed their operational life in the Swiss transport company Bernmobil and were handed over free of charge to the Ukrainian community. The first three buses arrived in the city a few days before Christmas, and the rest are planned to be delivered soon.

Buses from Switzerland for Trostianets: how the transfer took place

The transfer of transport took place on December 22 in the presence of Trostianets Mayor Yuriy Bova, the President of Bern Marike Kruijt, advisor to the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland Samvel Arustamyan, and representative of Bernmobil Corinna Ribeli. The event had symbolic significance as an example of international support for Ukrainian communities.

The Embassy noted that the delivered buses will help establish a stable operation of public transport and ease the daily journeys of city residents.

The importance of international support

The diplomatic institution emphasized that cooperation between Ukrainian and Swiss communities makes a significant contribution to the restoration of affected cities and strengthens bilateral relations between Ukraine and Switzerland.

Bernmobil expressed solidarity with Ukraine and wished Ukrainians a peaceful Christmas holiday. The received transport will become an important part of the restoration of Trostianets' urban infrastructure after the destruction caused by the war.

It should be recalled that in Kyiv, starting from December, another batch of new trams and buses has been introduced into city routes. Some of the equipment is already in operation, while others are undergoing technical preparations in the depot before entering the line.
