Pope Francis canonized Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati


Pope Francis held a solemn canonization ceremony for the Italian saints - Carlo Acutis, known as the 'influencer of God', and Pier Giorgio Frassati. About 80,000 pilgrims from around the world attended the event at the Vatican. This was reported by VaticanNews.


Carlo Acutis, born in 1991, became the first millennial to be officially proclaimed a saint by the Church. He was a passionate programmer and video game player, and created several religious websites, including an online archive documenting 108 Eucharistic miracles.

The body of Carlo Acutis is buried in Assisi, Italy. His sarcophagus is located in the side aisle of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, where it can be seen that the deceased was dressed in jeans, a sweatshirt, and sneakers. His heart is preserved in the Cathedral of San Rufino.







Pier Giorgio Frassati and the canonization ceremony


Pier Giorgio Frassati, born in 1901, was a student with anti-fascist views and was known for his compassionate help to those in need. He died at the age of 25 from polio. The solemn canonization ceremony of the new saints took place in St. Peter's Square with the participation of relatives and tens of thousands of believers. Pope Leo XIV delivered a greeting and a call for peace in Ukraine, expressing support for the Ukrainian people and urging prayer and charity.



Pope Francis proclaimed the canonization of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati, recognizing them as saints and churches. This solemn event took place in the Vatican with the participation of thousands of pilgrims and relatives of the saints, who will now be honored by believers as intercessors before God.
