Incident in Vinnytsia
A tram driver was assaulted by a man and a woman on May 28 at 10:00 PM at the Ninth Microraion stop in Vinnytsia. The attack occurred while passengers were disembarking, triggered by a situation involving the tram's automatic door system. As a result, the driver suffered facial abrasions and hematomas, a chest contusion, and a sharp spike in blood pressure. She declined hospitalization.
Tram service was halted for an hour and a half while specialists inspected the door mechanisms and the carriage's locking system, both of which were found to be in working order. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Safety in Public Transport
In this type of tram, doors operate automatically: passengers open them using buttons located both outside and inside the cabin. When closing, the retractable step rises first, followed by the doors. The driver does not manually control these processes and cannot adjust the step independently.
The Vinnytsia Transport Company will assist in the investigation and insists on the legal punishment of those who carried out the attack. The company also urges passengers to:
- maintain mutual respect;
- use public transport automatic systems carefully;
- in case of conflict or danger, contact the police, medical services, or relevant authorities.
This incident highlights the importance of worker safety in public transport and the need for proper passenger conduct. It also raises questions about the safety of automated systems in transit, which, while reducing risks for drivers, can sometimes lead to conflicts. The Vinnytsia Transport Company emphasizes that mutual respect is key to ensuring safe public transport for everyone.
