Moldovan Man Wanted by Interpol for Child Rape Arrested in Vinnytsia

В Вінниці затримали молдованина, якого розшукував Інтерпол за тяжкі злочини проти дітей.

International Criminals Apprehended in Vinnytsia

On June 2, a 32-year-old citizen of the Republic of Moldova was taken into custody in Vinnytsia. He had been placed on an Interpol wanted list for crimes involving the abduction and rape of a minor. The arrest was carried out by officers from the Migration Police Department, working alongside the International Police Cooperation Unit of the Main National Police Department and the State Migration Service of Ukraine.

The suspect is currently being held in a temporary detention facility, where authorities are now considering his extradition to the country that initiated the search. According to law enforcement, nationwide operations under the code name 'Migrant' are ongoing. These efforts are designed to identify individuals who violate Ukraine’s migration laws, as well as those involved in serious and particularly grave criminal offenses.

Member of International Drug Trafficking Network Detained

In a separate case, a foreign national who was also on an Interpol wanted list was arrested in the Kyiv region. This individual is a member of an international drug trafficking network that smuggled large quantities of heroin and cocaine from the Middle East through to Western Europe.

These arrests of internationally wanted individuals highlight the proactive role of Ukrainian law enforcement in combating organized crime. Operations focused on locating and detaining fugitives help strengthen international cooperation in security and law enforcement. They also underscore the importance of measures implemented under the 'Migrant' program, which aims to identify those who pose a threat to public safety.

In addition to the recent arrest in Vinnytsia, law enforcement has been actively tackling various forms of organized crime, including attempts to facilitate illegal border crossings. A recent case involved a thwarted smuggling operation where individuals were charged up to $10,000 for unauthorized entry. Such incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in maintaining public safety and enforcing migration laws. For more details on this smuggling attempt, see the full report here.
