Since the beginning of 2026, Russian attacks have damaged 14 units of public transport in Zaporizhzhia: buses, trolleybuses, and trams. Each strike reduces the number of vehicles on the routes and forces the city to spend money on repairs or replacements. This was reported by Regina Kharchenko, the secretary of Zaporizhzhia City Council.

Since the beginning of the year, 12 municipal buses, one trolleybus, and one tram have been hit by Russian attacks. City authorities emphasize that shelling and drone attacks systematically affect the operation of public transport.

Just last week, three municipal buses were damaged in Zaporizhzhia. One of them is beyond repair, resulting in the city losing another vehicle that could have operated on the route.
Drone attack on bus No. 48 in Zaporizhzhia on July 27
On July 27, a Russian drone attacked municipal bus No. 48. The strike damaged the roof of the vehicle, forcing the bus to be removed from the route.
The municipal authorities did not provide information about any casualties. However, the very fact of the attack on the bus implies new expenses for the city budget and additional pressure on other vehicles that must provide passenger transport.
Why damage to transport complicates life in Zaporizhzhia
For a frontline city, public transport remains an essential part of daily logistics. It is used by workers, students, elderly people, and residents who do not own cars.
Damaged vehicles require repairs, and in case of total loss, they need to be replaced. Despite Russian attacks, public transport in Zaporizhzhia continues to operate, but the city is forced to constantly adapt routes to the available rolling stock.
Reminder, in Zaporizhzhia, the movement of some trams and trolleybuses will be changed for six days. The restrictions will be in effect daily from July 28 to August 2 during the morning hours, and some routes on July 28 and 29 will be adjusted additionally.
