Grenade explosion in Zaporizhzhia: man injured in the entrance of a building

An incident occurred in the Voznesenivskyi district of Zaporizhzhia when a grenade exploded in the entrance of a residential building, resulting in a man being injured. The incident took place on October 16 at around 18:40. A 39-year-old man sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized.


Reports of the explosion were received by the '102' hotline after it became known about the event on the staircase landing of one of the apartment buildings in downtown Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary data, the victim found the grenade himself, which exploded during careless handling.


Law enforcement is investigating all circumstances of the event. The issue of entering information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations is currently under consideration.


Other cases of grenade explosions in residential buildings


In addition to Zaporizhzhia, similar cases have also occurred in Kyiv and the Transcarpathian region. In the Dnipro district of Kyiv, a grenade exploded in an apartment of a high-rise building, resulting in two fatalities. Regarding the incident in Transcarpathia, a grenade exploded in a private house, where three people died. Among the dead were a 32-year-old mother, a 55-year-old grandmother, and a 70-year-old grandfather who were poisoned by the grenade during a dinner gathering.


In various cities of Ukraine, there have been recent cases of grenade explosions in residential buildings, leading to casualties and injuries. Law enforcement agencies are examining all the circumstances of these events and conducting investigations to determine the causes and those responsible for these incidents.
