A new feature has appeared in the Ukrzaliznytsia app for passengers who travel with pets or want to know in advance about such neighbors. When selecting a seat on the train car layout, a paw icon may now appear, indicating that a passenger at this seat is traveling with an animal, writes Visit Ukraine.
What the paw icon means next to the seat on the train
The icon appears automatically next to the seat number if the passenger has a pet transportation ticket issued with their ticket. It can be seen even during booking, before paying for their ticket.
Thanks to this, passengers can choose a spot further away from a cat or dog in advance, if they have allergies, fear of animals, or simply do not want such neighbors. At the same time, pet owners can find seats next to other passengers who also travel with animals.
The function does not need to be activated additionally: if the information is available, the paw icon automatically appears on the train car layout.
Where the new Ukrzaliznytsia function is already working
Currently, the icon is not available on all trains. There are cases when passengers have already arranged for their pet to be transported, but the corresponding icon is not yet displayed on the train car layout.
Therefore, at this stage, the function does not actually work on all routes. It is expected that in the future it may be expanded to a greater number of trains.
This innovation is expected to make booking more convenient for both pet owners and passengers who value knowing about the presence of a cat or dog nearby before purchasing a ticket.
