In Zhytomyr, the authorities stated that a decision on increasing the fare for public transport in the city has not been made. Currently, the cost of a trip for private carriers on city routes remains at 15 UAH. This was reported by the Zhytomyr City Council.

The fare in Zhytomyr remains 15 UAH

The city council emphasized that the executive committee has not made any decisions regarding tariff changes. Payment on city routes must be made in a cashless form.

At the same time, the city authorities are responding to complaints from residents regarding cash acceptance. The Department of Transport and Communications has already recorded violations of contract conditions with carriers.

In case of violations, passengers are asked to report them, specifying:

  • the bus route number;
  • the vehicle number;
  • the date and time of the trip.

Requests can be sent to the hotline of the city council's transport department.

Transport tariffs may be reviewed due to rising costs

Zhytomyr's Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Shevchuk explained that carriers are highlighting the difficult economic situation and significant fuel price increases.

«There is indeed a difficult economic situation across Ukraine right now. Carriers refer to the substantial increase in prices for fuel and lubricants», — he noted.

According to transporters' calculations, the cost of a trip already exceeds 20 UAH. However, these economic justifications are still under analysis by the city council.

The authorities also emphasized that tariff regulation rules apply only to city routes. The cost of trips on suburban buses running outside the city is determined separately and does not fall under these contracts.

It is noteworthy that about 15 kg of mercury was found in Zhytomyr on the territory of a private household.
